Development of extraction methodology for identification of extractive-compounds indexing natural durability of selected wood species

This study is concerned with establishing a uniform experimental protocol for the determination of phenolic extractives, which play an essential role in durability wood selected species included field tests. European larch (Larix decidua), Norway spruce (Picea abies), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), oak (Quercus sp.), sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa), and black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) were study. Extraction yield data collected extraction Soxhlet apparatus using common polar solvents (ethanol, acetone, methanol, water) single static cycles accelerated solvent (ASE). The suitability appropriate conditions evaluated based on results gravimetric analysis hydrophilic spectrophotometric total phenols, chromatographic high-performance liquid chromatography. ASE system methanol proved to be quick accurate way prepare samples chemical extractives species. With monitoring targeted subjected leaching, we propose novel suitable also measuring effects weathering natural future studies.
